The Volunteer Cadet Corps (VCC) required a coordinated campaign to mark its 125th anniversary, celebrating its heritage while positioning the Corps for future growth. The project involved developing a distinctive campaign identity and delivering a full suite of communication assets to support events, engagement and stakeholder outreach throughout the anniversary year. The challenge was to create a campaign identity that honoured over a century of service while remaining relevant and engaging for a broad audience, including cadets, volunteers, senior military stakeholders and partners.
Working alongside the VCC and the Royal Navy Youth Engagement Team, MindWorks developed a flexible and scalable branding creative platform. The approach balanced naval heritage with a modern accessible appeal for young audiences. Key deliverables included:
Informational publications, including fold-out flyers and stakeholder information packs
“We’re loving the fresh new VCC125 logo and the suite of assets that MindWorks has created. They’re already proving incredibly useful as we roll the campaign out across the organisation. The concepts were very well received internally – even after testing them with my daughter, who has a good eye for design, and she picked the same favourites as the team!”
The VCC125 identity has established a cohesive and recognisable identity across a year-long programme of national events and activities. Campaign assets are being used across multiple environments, from high-profile ceremonial and public events, to recruitment and engagement activities within naval establishments.
The work has strengthened the Volunteer Cadet Corps’ visibility within the Armed Forces community, provided professional communication tools to support volunteers and units nationwide and delivered a consistent, modern public-facing identity for the Corps.
The scalable framework ensures continued value beyond the anniversary year, supporting future campaigns.
