Promar

Promar required a website design and web development solution from MindWorks to create a modern scalable user-focused digital platform for the Farm Business Survey (FBS), delivered on behalf of DEFRA. The platform needed to serve a wide-ranging audience – participating farmers, academic researchers, policy professionals and institutional stakeholders.

Key requirements included clearly communicating the purpose and value of the survey, supporting participant recruitment and presenting complex information in an accessible format. The website also needed to integrate with a live data dashboard, while maintaining a balance between government-level credibility and practical usability for working farmers.

MindWorks has applied a digital marketing strategy and UX-led approach to restructure the website’s information architecture around defined user personas, ensuring intuitive navigation and clear user journeys for each audience group.

WordPress provides a scalable CMS build for flexibility and ease of ongoing management. Design and layout prioritises clarity, legibility and accessibility, aligning with best practice standards for public sector digital services.

Integration with the live Shiny data dashboard allows users to explore survey outputs with supporting context, improving interpretation of complex datasets. The project has included full delivery from build and deployment through to technical setup and ongoing support, with analytics and reporting in place to monitor performance and user behaviour.

Scalable website design and web development, delivering accessible UX, dashboard integration and strong digital performance

The new platform provides a clear, accessible and scalable digital presence for the Farm Business Survey. Users are able to navigate content more easily and understand the value of participation.

Integration with the live dashboard has improved transparency and usability, supporting a broader range of users from working farmers to policy stakeholders. The website provides a strong foundation for ongoing development, aligned with DEFRA’s objectives for accessibility, clarity and public value.
