ESN (with EE and IBM)

As part of MindWorks’ role designing and building exhibition stands for the Home Office’s Emergency Services Network (ESN), we set out to create a more immersive, engaging way of explaining ESN’s role and that of its partners, EE and IBM. Complex infrastructure and communications systems can be difficult to communicate quickly in busy event environments. This concept needed to create an interactive experience that would draw people in and encourage meaningful conversation. It also had to differentiate the exhibition stand within crowded conference halls, providing a memorable focal point for visitors.

Our creative branding team conceived and developed a series of 4D infographic tables – large-scale, tactile installations that translated complex networks into intuitive visual storytelling. Each table combined layered graphics and structural modelling to represent networks, data flows and operational touchpoints that could be understood at a glance. One of the tables also incorporated embedded lighting, adding an additional layer of technical complexity and visual impact. Close collaboration with stakeholders ensured technical accuracy while evolving the installations to become increasingly interactive, incorporating moving elements and more sophisticated visual detailing. By turning abstract systems into something tangible, we removed the intimidation factor often associated with large-scale digital infrastructure, creating an experience that drew consistent interest and sparked conversation.

Transforming complex infrastructure into engaging, interactive brand experiences

The 4D tables have consistently drawn large numbers of visitors to the stand at exhibitions and industry events. Dwell time has increased and the quality of conversations have improved, shifting from dense technical specifications to genuine understanding of operational impact. The 4D tables have become a recognisable feature of ESN’s exhibition presence, reinforcing brand differentiation and demonstrating MindWorks’ strength in branding, experiential design and strategic communication.
